The Pamba Heritage Villa -a most perfect blend of the old world charm and modern amenities. Each day that you spend in this 100 year old wooden mansion situated on the bank of the holy river Pamba, you will feel the serenity, peace and joy, which has been long lost to the frenetic pace of the times that we live in. This is a golden opportunity to experience closeness with Nature.

The Pamba Heritage villa is a 109 year old wooden mansion which has been handed over to the succeeding generations by the great ancestors of the famous Kanjooparambil family. This Heritage Villa is situated on the banks of the holy river Pamba. Hence the name The Pamba Heritage Villa. The Pamba River is the third longest river in the South Indian state of Kerala and the longest river in the erstwhile princely state of Travancore. The Pamba Heritage Villa is the ancestral home of the famous Kanjooparambil family. The portion of the house where the guests stay was originally the Ara and the Nilavara which were used to store paddy and other grains in olden days.

It has now been converted into beautiful, spacious and ventilated bedrooms with attached bathrooms, having all modern amenities. The guests rooms form a separate unit in the house and privacy is guaranteed.

All guests are being engaged by my father Mr.K.C Thomas (Retd. Dy.Director, Finance, Rubber Board, INDIA) and my mother Mrs.Leelamma Thomas. We have a guide and a cook to ensure better service to our guests.

Accommodation

The Pamba Heritage Villa is located on the eastern bank of the holy river Pamba. The entire guest rooms are spacious and are waterfront. So the gentle breeze from the riverside keeps the rooms refreshing and cool. We have three guest rooms exclusively designed to ensure your comfort and privacy.

You may entertain yourself watching the TV or playing indoor games in the family drawing room. Even though telephone facility is not there in individual rooms, if need arises you may use home telephone connection. The netted windows provide protection from mosquitoes and other insects. The additional net provided along with the coat ensures total protection from mosquitoes.

The windows and doors open to the paddy fields, the river and the garden allowing excellent ventilation and enchanting views from within the rooms. All our quest rooms are well furnished with two large single beds, wardrobe, writing table and chair. The floor is finished in ‘thara odu’ (mud tile) which has healing as well as preventive power on ‘arthritis’. The terra cotta tiled roof and the wooden attic along with the wooden walls provide effective cooling. There is also a small verandah running around each room.

Farm

The Pamba Heritage Villa is located amidst a wide array of fruits trees, flowering and medicinal plants. The entire landscape is sandwiched between the Pamba river and emerald carpeted paddy fields. The two acres of this property has mainly coconut and banana plantations.

As you stride along the compound you can see the jack fruit tree top to bottom heavy with fruits, lemon plant, cocoa, coffee plants sapota tree, mulberry plant, pomegranate, pepper wine and a whole lot of local herbs and medicinal plants. We also grow various vegetables for home use. For the purpose of cultivation only cow dung and other organic wastes are used as manure. A few of the coconut trees at The Pamba Heritage has been given for toddy (fermented sap from coconut trees) tapping. And the guests can anytime sip this coconut nectar fresh from the trees.

Tender coconut water is another special thing to taste. At Pamba Heritage there is a pond where different variety of fish is grown. The guests can always take a fishing rode (provided) and check your knack at fishing. Give your catch in the kitchen, get it cooked according to your taste. The entire kitchen management especially cooking is carried under the supervision of my mother whose expertise in the Kerala cuisine has been acknowledged by many. The hens and her chicks, gini hens, ducks etc give all the liveliness of a typical village farm house.
